Holiday Bookselling Opportunity
The Zia Art & Crafts Show will be at the Albuquerque
Fairgrounds, November 21, 22, & 23. The NM Book Co-op
and Jill Lane are hosting a Book Sale emporium at the show
and it is open to all local authors and publishers. This is
an opportunity to have your book at a large holiday show
and we hope it is seen and bought for holiday gift giving.
If you are interested Jill Lane is honchoing the effort but
the Book Co-op is signing people up. The space is limited!
If you are interested in having your title there for three
days the fee is $25 for the 1st title and $10 for each
additional title. You are not expected to be there except
to deliver and pick up your books. We will have a sales
staff.
Make sure FIRST that you can deal with the rules!
1. All books will be brought Thursday, November 20. We
don’t know the time yet but you will be told. Set up day we
were told there is no parking or entrance fee.
2. We want books that would be good for gift giving - kids,
cookbooks, novels, art, etc.
3. We are promoting the space as a “Book Sale Emporium” so
reducing the price on books would mean sales. People who
did that at Lavender had more success.
4. ALL books must be tagged for price. REMEMBER other
people may not know your book price.
5. Take off any shrink-wrap on your books! Buyers like to
be able to look through a book before buying.
6. Use removable price labels for your prices - they are at
office supply stores. Do not cover up the real price.
People love discounts. Do not use scraps of paper or other
tacky items.
7. Drop off exactly ten copies of each title. Quantities
over 10 will be returned to you when you deliver the books.
8. With the books have an invoice for ten books, the price,
the title, your name, address, and phone number in case the
book sells well. We will contact you if your title sells
well.
9. Pick up your books on time Sunday - we don’t know the
exact time yet but we will let you know; it is tentatively
from 5-6pm (if you come earlier than 5pm there will be
parking and entrance fees). Books not picked up on Sunday
will not be returned.
10. Some sales will be by credit card and the credit card
processing fees will be subtracted from the total you get.
It is about 3.5%.
11. There are NO signings. With the parking and admission
fee, book signings are not practical!
12. You can pay by PayPal, check, or credit card.
13. It would help if you promoted to friends and family if
your book is there. The success of this event depends on
getting your family, friends, and buyers to the show.
14. Space is limited so act fast if you are interested.
